RCR’s weekly Friday classes and Cuban Salsa Dance Party are at Mars Bar once a month, every 3rd Friday.

Beginners are welcome in all Level 1 classes, and we are now offering three separate classes at both 6:00pm and 7:15pm at Mars, just like we do at MNC. Here’s the schedule:

6:00 - 7:00pm Cuban Salsa & Rueda (Level 1) — register as a follower — register as a leader

Registration for the above classes will open on the previous Saturday (6 days before).

Mars has a full bar and kitchen — they usually have drink specials for salsa class and party attendees.

We will still be offering our regular 7:30pm class at ODC (as we do every Friday):

RCR is at Long Weekend Havana every Sunday — we’ll be offering two hours of classes and open dancing. Here’s the schedule:

The first workshop was a hit so we’re hosting Roberto again for a Part 2! It is not necessary to have attended the previous workshop to attend this one.

We are excited to be hosting Roberto Borrell for a special two-hour workshop at Long Weekend Havana — dancing Son and Cha-Cha-Chá to Son Montuno music. The workshop is open to all dancers and will take the place of RCR’s regular classes that day. Social dancing will happen after the class as usual until 9:00pm, timba mixed with Son Montuno with DJ Ritmo.

Born and raised in Cuba, Roberto Borrell began his career in dance with the Conjunto Folklórico Nacional in Havana at the age of 18. With more than 55 years of teaching experience and a lifetime of knowledge of about both Afro-Cuban and Cuban Popular music, Roberto is a master percussionist, dancer, and teacher, and an invaluable resource to dancers and musicians in the Bay Area. RCR hosts a Cuban Dance Party every 1st Saturday of the month at Lake Merritt Dance in Oakland.

This month we are excited that there will be a special dance performance during the party — Or’s switch choreography!

We are offering three workshops this month. At 5:00pm Ryan will offer a Rhythm & Listening class . Then at 6:15pm Or will be offering a Rueda Dinámica class, a fun active style of rueda with lots of fast calls— dancers must be currently attending Level 3 or 4 to participate. Then at 7:30pm we offer a 1-on-1 social dancing Salsa-Casino class — intermediate/advanced taught this month by Eric Johnson as well as a beginning level (two separate levels taught in different rooms simultaneously).

At all of our monthly parties we celebrate the birthdays of everyone born in that month. Contact us in advance if your birthday is this month and we’ll put you on the guest list for the party (workshops not included, see below).

Have you ever wondered about switching off between leading and following in the same song? Rueda con Ritmo is hosting two 1.5-hour workshops with Or Gadish on Sunday, March 22nd at the Mission Neighborhood Center in San Francisco:

1. Crash Course in Your Secondary Role (12:00-1:30pm): Anyone that is at Level 3 or above in only ONE OF leading or following should take this class before taking the later switch class. This is also a great opportunity even if you can't attend the later switch class!

2. Switching Leading and Following in Casino Partnerwork and Rueda (2:00-3:30pm): This is open to all dancers who took the crash course, or are already comfortable with all the RCR Level 1 and Level 2 moves in BOTH leading and following.   

We love that there are already many in the community that regularly lead and follow, and we are excited to offer this workshop.
