We're back from our two-week intensive dance study trip to Cuba with the All Stars from Santiago. We learned a ton of new material – movement, turn patterns, footwork, and more, and we'll be sharing what we learned with the dance community in the Bay Area on Saturday, August 20th.
Pre-registration has closed but it's still possible to join the classes, just arrive a bit early and bring cash or check (no credit cards).
12pm Son de Santiago (Beg - Adv)
Son is beautiful and elegant, simple in movements but sophisticated in rhythm and style. It is a primary root of Salsa and Casino, and many of the best dancers incorporate movements, turns, timing, and style from Son. In this class we'll cover some fundamental steps and movements before moving on to more intermediate and advanced patterns that we learned from Jorge Luna Roque, director of the All Stars.
1pm Intermediate All Stars' Salsa and Rueda de Casino
The intermediate group on our Cuba Dance Study Trip learned lots of fun new moves from Leo, who would have come to the Bay Area this year if he hadn't already been booked to teach in France. In this class we'll show you our favorite of Leo's Intermediate Salsa and Rueda de Casino moves.
2pm Advanced All Stars' Salsa and Rueda de Casino
Jorge Luna Roque, the director of the All Stars, is nothing short of a Casino genius. While remaining true to the traditions and spirit of the dance, he has developed a unique, intricate, dynamic style that is as challenging as it is fun. In the final class while we'll show you our favorite Advanced moves that we learned from Jorge. (Attendance at 1pm class required.)
Classes will be held at City Dance Studios at 10 Chase Court in San Francisco. Click here for a map.
