Ryan’s band Son Chévere will be playing for the first time in more than two years at MNC on Saturday, March 12th! We will be offering a dance class with two different groups at 4:30pm (beginning with Ryan, intermediate/advanced with Eric Johnson), and then it will be DJ Ritmo and the LIVE MUSIC of Son Chévere at 6:00pm — party goes until 8:00pm.
This event will be held inside and outside at the MNC (362 Capp St) — proof of vaccination (including booster) and masks (while inside) are still required as per our RCR Salsa Classes Safety Guidelines (click to read). Be sure to sign up in advance as space is limited.

Son Chévere is a quartet playing Cuban music for dancing (Son Cubano con Salsa y Timba) — they opened for Havana D Primera during their most recent SF tour. The members of Son Chévere are Jordan Wilson (Tres & Vocals), Ryan Mead (Percussion & Vocals), Maria Lorenzi (Upright Bass Keytar & Vocals), and Mara Fox (Trombone).
Eric Johnson, co-creator of the documentary La Salsa Cubana, is a longtime student of Cuban Casino, having continuously visited Cuba to study and dance since the mid-90s. Recently back from his latest trip, Eric will be sharing his insights in his intermediate/advanced class “secrets of casino” — details, techniques and nuances of the real Cuban social dance.
