RCR hosts a Cuban Dance Party every 1st Saturday of the month at Lake Merritt Dance in Oakland. In March it’s a fundraiser for Lake Merritt Dance — please support the event (admission is tax deductable).

We’ll start a bit later this month — at 6:00pm, Ryan’s listening class will be devoted to polyrhythms in Cuban music, as they are found in the clave and other rhythmic accents and patterns. As always, feel free to come with your questions to the listening class. At 7:15pm we’ll offer a 1-on-1 social dancing Salsa-Casino class (two separate levels taught in different rooms simultaneously.

LMD is a PERFECT venue for dancing, featuring a smooth vintage hardwood dance floor with ample space to dance. Here’s the full schedule for the night:

7:15pm 1-on-1 Cuban Salsa (Casino) Dance Workshops (two levels Int/Adv and Beg)
8:30pm DJ Ritmo spins Música Cubana

We usually offer all of our classes and events on a sliding scale to make them accessible to as many people as possible. Since this is a fundraiser for Lake Merritt Dance, registration and payment will work differently than usual. No donation is too small or too large — all payments for this event are tax deductible. Suggested minimum is $20, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Thanks in advance for supporting this event!
